Dr. Keith Rowley, who led the ruling People’s National Movement (PNM) to victory in the August 10 general elections over the main opposition United National Congress (UNC), unveiled a cabinet consisting of young and experienced politicians such as returning Finance Minister Colm Imbert, the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, as well as the Minister of Planning and Development, Camille Robinson-Regis and Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended congratulations to the Government and People of Trinidad and Tobago on its fifty-eighth Anniversary of Independence, praising the country’s role in regional integration.
“Trinidad and Tobago, one of the founding Members of the Community, has maintained its leadership role in advancing the integration movement, including through its leadership on regional security and energy issues,” Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque said in a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley.

At 8:57 PM Friday 4th September 2020, a moderate earthquake, magnitude 5.5, was felt across Trinidad and Tobago. The quake occurred 64 km WNW of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, 89 km WNW of Arima, Trinidad and Tobago, and 92 km NW of San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, at a shallow depth of 10 Kilometers, according to the U.W.I. Seismic Research Centre, the authority for seismic and volcanological information in the Eastern Caribbean. There have been no initial reports of damages or injuries.
